The Willie L. Brown and James L. Brulte Fellowships
The Center's Leadership Council hosted a community dinner to honor two of California's most influential political figures and to raise fellowship funds for Democracy Fellows at UC Irvine. With this community support we have established the Willie L. Brown and James L. Brulte Fellowships.Mayor Willie Brown had a distinguished public service career as a member of the California Assembly and Speaker of the Assembly, and now serves as Mayor of San Francisco. Senator James L. Brulte has an equally distinguished public service career as a member of the Assembly and now Republican Leader in the California Senate.
These fellowships provide first-year support for students who enter the Ph.D. program in political science or sociology at UC Irvine.
