The Economics of Governance Lecture
Previous Economics of Governance Lecturers
The Economics of Governance Lecture series invites distinguished economists and experts on economic policy to UC Irvine to discuss current economic challenges facing our state and nation, and how governments and citizens can best address these challenges. The Economics of Governance Lecture is the premier lecture on economics at the University of California, Irvine. The lectures share the best scholarship on these topics with a broad audience of students, community members, and experts in the field. We have common concerns about economic issues in America, and the lecture series helps citizens to understand these vital issues.
The series draws upon several different types of economic specialists:
· National Economic Experts
· Experts on the California Economy
· Economic Scholars
The lecture series is coordinated by faculty in UC Irvine's Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) and the Department of Economics. The CSD is a one of the university's major research centers (ORUs), focusing on research and teaching that strengthens democracy at home and abroad. One of the Center's research emphases is "Economics of Governance", which studies how collective decisions are made that require some people to behave in ways not in their immediate self interest. The Department of Economics includes approximately thirty faculty with special strengths in econometrics, public choice, and microeconomics.
Our sincere appreciation to City National Bank, and especially Tom Rogers, for their generous support of this lecture series and participation in the series.
