CSD Director Bernard Grofman provided introductory remarks about "The Rhythms of American Politics, 1856-2006" to a September 25, 2008 panel on "The 2008 Election." This event brought two distinguished senior political consultants, Richie Ross (for the Democrats) and Dan Schnur (for the Republicans), to offer their insights and insider perspectives. The invitation only event was organized by the University of California, Irvine Chief Executives Roundtable, moderated by former California State Senator and CEO Roundtable member, Joe Dunn, and hosted by CEO Roundtable Chair, Bruce Hallett. The audience of nearly 100 people were primarily members of the CEO Roundtable and others from the greater Orange County community, along with three Democracy Fellows specially invited by the Roundtable. At the dinner that evening for those involved in the event at the Chancellor's House, Chancellor Michael Drake introduced the three Democracy Fellows (Kathy Rim, Moon-young Choi, and Fatima Rahman) to Roundtable members and other guests. To give the attendees a better sense of the activities of Fellows at the Center for the Study of Democracy, the Chancellow asked Kathy Rim to very briefly talk about her own work and the NGO in Cambodia her father and she run.
